Banksy, Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower), 2003
One of Banksy's earliest prints, 'Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower)' first appeared as a mural on the West Bank Wall in 2003. It rose to greater prominence still when it was used as the front cover image for the 2005 book 'Wall and Piece'. It is without question one of his most recognised and sought-after pieces. Published in an edition of 500, approximately 150 were signed. This particular print has a duplicate edition number, an extremely rare result of losing count while numbering. Accompanied by Pest Control certificate.
Pablo Picasso, Colombe de Paix for 'Pour un nouveau printemps'', 1963
The iconic ‘Dove of Peace’ in its simplest and purest form, this lithograph was created to accompany the handmade book ‘For a New Spring’, published in 1963.
The accompanying book has a unique handmade cover of raffia and leather, with text by André Verdet. It is signed by the author and dedicated “For Monsieur and Madame Caire" on a blank page and is further accompanied by a stunning loose photograph of Picasso by André Villers, with the photographer's stamp on the back.
Henri Matisse, Nu Bleu I , 1958
This lithographs was produced at the end of the artist's life in 1954 and is from the only edition of lithographs produced directly by Matisse working with Mourlot.
The images reproduce his iconic pochoir designs and were incorporated into a volume of the French portfolio Verve, ‘Dernieres Oeuvres de Matisse’ celebrating his last works and published posthumously by Teriade in Paris in 1958.
Peter Blake,100 Sources of Pop Art, 2014
Peter Blake as collector, Peter Blake as ruminator, Peter Blake as observer. '100 Sources of Pop Art' represents all the disparate parts of the artist that make the whole. This is a highly sought-after work that brings together previous 'Sources of Pop Art' works and acts as a culmination of everything that has come before. The condition of this print is excellent; the glazes, glitter and diamond dust setting it alight. Every collector of Peter Blake's work wants a print from this edition and rightly so.
Damien Hirst, Psalm: Deus, Deus Meus, 2010
A dazzling screenprint with diamond dust from Hirst's iconic Psalms Series. Each of the 150 images in the series is named after a Psalm from the Old Testament, reflecting the artist's ongoing fascination with belief systems, spirituality, life and death. The title of this piece translates as "My God, help me". Composing intricate patterns with jewel-like butterfly wings, Hirst compels the viewer to look beyond the surface pattern and discover an extraordinary world of intricate variety.
L.S Lowry, The Football Match, 1973
Lowry's paintings and prints depicting football matches are among his most popular works. In October 2022 his painting "Going to the Match" set a new auction record for the artist, selling for £7.2 million at Christie's in London. The Professional Footballers' Association called it "quite simply the finest football painting ever". Lowry was a lifelong follower of the game, supporting Manchester City but nursing a soft spot for local rival Bolton Wanderers.
This print is an exceptional example of Lowry's love for the game and his keen eye for capturing the details of Mancunian life. It's also very special in that it shows the game in full flow; most of the artist's football scenes depict crowds walking to the match from outside the stadium. To be able to spot the football itself in one of Lowry's images is rare!
