Poppy Boys-Stones
Director of OperationsPoppy joined Hidden Gallery in 2018, shortly after completing a Masters in Fine Art at the University of the West of England. This followed her undergraduate studies in English Literature at the University of Bristol, where she developed a strong foundation in critical analysis and cultural theory. Together, these academic experiences shaped her considered approach to contemporary art and continue to inform her work at Hidden today.
As Director of Operations, Poppy is responsible for the smooth and effective running of the gallery. She works closely with the team to ensure that Hidden remains a welcoming space for both established collectors and those new to buying art. Central to her role is maintaining the gallery’s ethos of sincerity and openness, qualities which underpin the long-lasting relationships Hidden builds with its clients.
During her postgraduate studies, Poppy became particularly interested in the work of Sarah Lucas, whose use of everyday objects and sharp humour challenge traditional ideas around gender and the body. Her wider interests include Andy Warhol, whose exploration of consumer culture remains strikingly relevant, and Marina Abramović, whose pioneering performances probe the limits of endurance and human connection.
Poppy is also a keen collector herself, with a personal collection that reflects her belief that art collecting can be both accessible and meaningful. Among her treasured pieces are a series of original Keith Haring posters, a limited-edition Andy Warhol screenprint, a hand-signed poster from Abramović’s exhibition at Tate Modern, and a hand-signed woodcut by David Shrigley. For Poppy, these pieces embody the joy of living with art and demonstrate that collecting is not only about investment, but about passion and connection.
