This work has superb provenance, is authenticated by the artists family and is sold with a photo-certificate from Claude Ruiz-Picasso as well as a French export certificate.
A wonderful investment work.
From the property of Jaime Sabartés, Barcelona (gift of the artist).
Sabartes was Picasso's friend and secretary. They met [in 1899] when they were both studying at the Llotja art school of Barcelona and they remained close until the former's death.
He became Picasso's full-time secretary, in 1935 organising his papers, books and poems and was responsible for arranging his exhibitions.
Sabartés collected a great many works by Picasso which he donated to the Museu Picasso in Barcelona in 1963, forming the original core of this museum (together with works donated by the artist himself), which was initially known as the Sabartés Collection.
