Objects of Desire

Covetable works for your collection

Some objects possess a power beyond all expectation. Pick them up and the static charge of art, history and culture passes right through your hands. They condense entire mythologies down to a human scale and remind us that art was created above all to be looked at, experienced and enjoyed. This week we've assembled a fabulous selection of some of our favourite objects of desire, great works by great names, any of which would be a highly covetable addition to any collection, and please remember any of these wonderful objects can be purchased with interest free instalments.

Tracey Emin, Docket in my Hand, 2014

Docket - born on the same road as the Kray twins in Spitalfields - may justly be considered the most celebrated feline in contemporary British art. He was Tracey Emin's beloved companion for nearly two decades until his death in 2020 and inspired countless works of art. Love has been a fundamental theme of Emin's work from her earliest days as an artist, and this intimate bronze is proof that sometimes our most enduring bonds come bound in the smallest and most unassuming of packages. A quintessentially confessional and heartfelt work by a contemporary master.

Grayson Perry, Piggy Bank, 2017

Perhaps Britain's greatest chronicler of modern life and all its absurdities, Grayson Perry is a master at swimming against the mainstream. This polymorphous piggy bank was created for "The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever!", his iconic 2017 show at the Serpentine Gallery. With slots for no fewer than eight different identities, it's a perfect summary of the themes that have driven Perry's work for decades, produced in his most celebrated and sought-after medium. No need to save your pennies for this one!

Braque, Chagall, Dufy, Matisse, Picasso et. al.Estampes, 1950

An incredible snapshot of the French art world in 1950, the legendary "Estampes" portfolio is a ready-made collection of woodblock prints that includes hand-signed images by Braque, Chagall, Dufy, Matisse and Picasso. All but two of the 12 artists featured are held in the Tate collection. In terms of artistic pedigree, it doesn't get better than this. We're thrilled to be able to offer this incredible tribute to the twilight of modernism at a fraction of the price of the individual prints. It also includes a set of trial proofs for one of the images, demonstrating the mind-boggling amount of work that went into creating each print.

Robert Indiana, LOVE (Gold), 2009

Robert Indiana's celebrated sixty-year LOVE series began as a correspondence card that he sent to friends in 1964. It has since been realised as a sculpture in over 50 different editions, at sites ranging from New York to Singapore. Immediately recognisable as a pop-culture icon the world over, it's a fabulous addition to any collection. Our sculpture was originally sold by major art museums and is a highly covetable (and portable) piece of history.

Henry Moore, Maquette for Two Piece Reclining Figure No. 1, 1959-74

Few of us will have passed through a park, museum or public square in Britain without encountering one of Henry Moore's monumental bronze sculptures. Unquestionably one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century, Moore sits at the top of many a collector's wish list. Have you ever coveted one of these magical objects but not had the space for a public monument? Fear not! We're delighted to offer this exquisite original bronze that distils all the emotive power of Moore's vision into a structure small enough to fit on your desk. On this scale you can almost see the artist's fingerprints in the hand-wrought clay, and with a tiny edition size of only 7 they don't come much rarer or more desirable than this.
