Henry Moore, Maquette for Two Piece Reclining Figure No. 1, 1959 - 74
Though Moore's early career was largely defined by a rigid commitment to carved stone and wood, the 1940s saw him begin to experiment with bronze casting. These experiments granted the artist a newfound creative freedom: a freedom which gradually eroded his reliance on preparatory sketches on paper. As such, by the mid-1950s, Moore instead explored his ideas in the form of small bronze maquettes. As with many of his preparatory works, Moore sought to achieve a high level of finish in his maquettes by painstakingly hand-applying and removing various acids from the surface of the works to create his desired patina.
Moore's ground-breaking body of work ushered in an exciting, new modern era of sculpture.

Grayson Perry was a beacon of hope and creativity throughout the COVID pandemic. The artist’s hit programme ‘Grayson Perry’s Art Club’ invigorated a nation growing weary during multiple lockdowns. ‘Chris Whitty’s Cat’ was sculpted on Perry’s programme during the initial lockdown and was individually cast into an incredibly small edition size of 10 silver sculptures. Tracey Emin’s cat Docket was very dear to her throughout its 19 years of life.
