Picasso and Matisse: Friends and Rivals | Bristol : Featuring original artworks by two titans of the 20th century

1 February - 6 March 2024

“You have got to be able to picture side by side everything Matisse and I were doing at that time. No one has ever looked at Matisse’s painting more carefully than I; and no one has looked at mine more carefully than he.” Pablo Picasso to biographer Pierre Daix

Throughout February, Hidden Bristol will be exhibiting original artworks by two of the most influential figures of the last century, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Characterised by mutual respect and rivalry, the artists shared a dynamic relationship which not only evolved their individual outputs, but played a pivotal role in shaping the course of modern art.

The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am - 5pm, and from 11am - 4pm on Sundays, so please do visit to view the fabulous collection in person.

To wrap up the Picasso and Matisse exhibition, the team at Hidden Bristol would love you to join us for a glass of fizz on Saturday 2nd March from 1-4pm. The celebration will take place at the Bristol gallery located at Unit 6-8 The Clifton Arcade, Boyce's Avenue, Clifton, BS8 4AA.
