Chagall came to lithography late in life, only producing his first prints in the medium at the age of sixty-one. He certainly made up for lost time though, creating more than one thousand individual images before his death in 1985.
The technique offered him the means to express the same richness, vivid colouring and profound sense of magic that defines his visual storytelling. His colleague Charles Sorlier once said that “at times, it seems as if an angel has entered the workshop’.
We’re very excited to have acquired a stunning set of original unsigned lithographs produced by Chagall in 1957. Created at the Atelier Mourlot to accompany a text by Jacques Lassaigne, they are completely new to Hidden, and feature some of Chagall’s most beloved subjects in his familiar jewel-like palette. These are original lithographs from the 1950s, in excellent condition and fresh as the day they were printed.
All prices include framing and free UK delivery. They are a wonderful way to acquire an original piece of Chagall’s enduring legacy at a terrific price.
