The art of language and how it is written is responsible for some of the most expressive artworks of all time.

For centuries, artists have harnessed the power of words. Robert Indiana, a self-proclaimed 'American painter of signs,' was one of the most successful artists to make the written word a defining feature of his work. Indiana's deceptively simple 'LOVE', featuring stacked letters rendered in a serified font with a tilted 'O', is one of the most iconic images of American Pop Art. Instantly recognisable and celebrated, the image is loaded with sensual, autobiographical, and political underpinnings demonstrating the power of language in art.

The Connor Brothers are renowned for their prolific explorations of language, combining text and image to entertain, seduce and shock their audience. Amongst their most iconic artworks are their depictions of pin-up models, coupled with pithy text. Full of humour, their artworks are bold, provocative and perfect for those looking to inject a bit of fun into their everyday.

Many leading artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Picasso, Matisse and Warhol, enjoyed designing their own exhibition posters, often in the form of original lithographs or screenprints.  Limited edition prints by the same world-renowned artists can often fetch around 10 times the price, making posters an incredibly affordable way of owning an original slice of art history.

With iconic imagery and bold typography, original exhibition posters provide a wonderful snap-shot into some of the most important and career defining exhibitions in history.

Exhibition posters are ephemeral and copies in excellent condition are rare; they were, by nature, not intended to be kept forever. Only some visitors recognised their aesthetic or cultural importance and held onto them. This enables us - and therefore you - to acquire these rare, special works.
