Amy Hampshire

Senior Manager

Amy studied English Literature at the University of Birmingham, where she also pursued Art History modules at The Barber Institute of Fine Arts. Her dissertation explored Paris as the global epicentre of modern art, focusing on the city’s vibrant community of writers and artists, including Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stein, and Ernest Hemingway. She also enjoyed browsing the university's collection of Modernist magazines, including Blast, in the library's archives. This research fostered a deep understanding of 20th century European art, complemented by her studies of American literature and contemporary artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe.

Her interests lie in American and European Modernism, a passion that informs her appreciation of artists including Agnes Martin, Picasso, and Joan Miró. Among her favourite cultural institutions are the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden in St Ives.

Amy has been a member of the Hidden Gallery team since 2020. She curates the gallery’s regularly changing exhibitions and events, builds lasting relationships with clients and collectors, and offers tailored advice and recommendations. She also leads the gallery’s home approvals service, giving Bristol buyers the unique opportunity to experience artworks in their own spaces before making a decision.
