David Hockney

This original exhibition poster reproduces a self-portrait
by David Hockney: Self Portrait in Bathroom Mirror with Sink, New York, 2002,
originally created in watercolour and crayon. While staying at the Mayflower
Hotel, Hockney was inspired by an exhibition of Chinese watercolours at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and started making his own watercolour
portraits. Intimate and direct, the image captures Hockney studying himself in
the bathroom mirror.

The poster was produced in 2003 for the exhibition David
Hockney: Painting on Paper at Annely Juda Fine Art and has since become
increasingly difficult to find, particularly in such excellent condition.

This example is signed and dedicated to Mike Hoban and his
partner. Hoban, a distinguished Lewes-based photographer known for his work in
live music and theatre, also served as official photographer to Glyndebourne
Opera, a venue with which Hockney himself has had a long creative association
through his celebrated stage and set designs.

A rare and meaningful piece, the poster combines striking
scale, autobiographical subject matter and distinguished provenance, making it
an exceptional choice for collectors seeking both visual impact and cultural
significance.
