Richard Long

Richard Long is a leading British land artist whose work spans Land Art, Conceptual Art, and Post-Minimalism. Born in Bristol, he studied at the West of England College of Art and later at Saint Martin’s School of Art under Anthony Caro and Phillip King. His groundbreaking 1967 work A Line Made by Walking established his lifelong focus on human interaction with nature and the traces such actions leave. Long is also renowned for his mud drawings, using river mud for its physical and historical significance, emphasizing the fragile beauty of the natural world. He is the only artist shortlisted four times for the Turner Prize, which he won in 1989. His work is held in major international collections, and he was knighted in 2018
