This original exhibition poster features an image of the central panel from Bacon's Triptych - Studies of the Human Body, painted in 1979. Between 26th April and 7th June 1980, a major survey of Bacon’s newest works was held at the Marlborough Gallery in New York. Bacon was represented by Marlborough from 1958 until his death in 1991. He had been enticed by the gallery's prestige and by its ability to pay off a substantial debt he had accrued with his previous gallery.
