A Splash of Colour

This week, we bring a splash of colour to celebrate new beginnings.

As our minds turn to holidays and the possibility of travel, my thoughts unerringly lead me to Barcelona and the panoramic view of the city from the roof of the Fundacio Miro. It is absolutely one of my favourite places, in one of my favourite cities.

The Fundacio celebrates Joan Miro, painter, sculptor, and ceramicist born there in 1893. His works are non-objective, colourful, biomorphic forms, brilliantly evoked through rough shapes and marginally recognizable objects. They are full of Catalan influences and joy.

Miro was a consummate printmaker, working with master lithographers, including Mourlot, to create some of the most striking works on paper of the 20th century. These works are surging in value and are highly recommended for investment and for the exuberance they will bring to your home.

We’ve presented a small selection of our stock below, which includes an extraordinarily rare drawing from 1917.

We have the colour - all we need now is the sunshine and a green light and the tapas are on me!
