To mark our return to the London Art Fair this January, we wanted to draw your attention to some of the magnificent works we will be bringing with us. Once such work is Banksy’s iconic Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower) of 2003.
One of Banksy's earliest prints, 'Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower)' first appeared as a mural on the Israeli West Bank Wall in 2003. It rose to greater prominence still when it was used as the front cover image for the 2005 book 'Wall and Piece'. It is, without question, one of his most recognised and sought-after pieces. Published in an edition of 500, approximately 150 were signed.
A powerful statement of peace and hope against war and violence, this work is exemplary of Banksy’s vehement anti-war stance which appears frequently in his work. It also evokes a key site for Banksy’s work, the West Bank Wall, which the artist has targeted over a dozen times and which he previously described as ‘the ultimate activity holiday destination for graffiti artists’.
This particular print has a duplicate edition number, an extremely rare result of losing count while numbering!
Hidden are proud to offer this phenomenally rare screenprint and we are incredibly excited to be bringing it along with us to the London Art Fair 2023!
Why is this work worth investing in?
Banksy is regarded as one of the most notable artists of recent times. The mystique surrounding his identity paired with his trademark dark humour and subversive subjects make him a defining figure in the history of art.
The iconic subject, rare duplicate edition number and striking condition of this piece make it a sound option for investment.
