This rare, original line drawing created by Andy Warhol during the 1950s comes directly from the artist’s estate. Long before his rise to the pinnacle of Pop Art, Warhol created more than 300 seductive images celebrating male beauty and desire. He believed these artworks to be his breakthrough into the world of fine art away from his commercial career as a graphic designer. Although some were exhibited in 1956, his plan to publish the drawings in a monograph was thwarted by contemporary attitudes to homosexuality, and it was not until 2020 that his ambition was finally realised.
This is a unique opportunity to purchase a drawing directly from Warhol’s own personal collection. It is accompanied by a certificate of provenance from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The purchaser of this piece will also be given the opportunity to register as the owner of the work in the official catalogue of Warhol's archive.
