Ai Weiwei

On the occasion of his retrospective at the Royal Academy between 19th September - 13th December 2015, Weiwei produced 110 unique dust jackets in a selection of ten colours to accompany a deluxe edition of the exhibition catalogue. Using a fully loaded brush he applied a bold, calligraphic stroke of white industrial paint to a sheet of Munken Polar paper and allowed the medium to run and dribble under its own weight. This work refers directly to Weiwei's iconic Coloured Vases series, in which he dips antique Chinese ceramics into the same brightly coloured paint and allows it to flow downwards over the vessels.

This piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
