Edvard Munch

Overview

Edvard Munch (1863 – 1944) was one of the most prolific, innovative, and influential figures in modern art. He was a troubled artist and with his personal life feeding his creative work. From the loss of his mother at a young age, which fuelled a life-long struggle with lovers and friends, shown through his emotive painting techniques. Throughout his career he created an impressive number of paintings, drawings, and prints including lithographs, etchings, and woodcuts.
